EGO SNT2405 vs SNT2410: Kit or XP Tool-Only Snow Blower?

Choose the SNT2405 kit if:

• You do not own EGO 56V batteries, or only small ones.
• Your driveway is one to three cars, where 18 cars per charge is plenty.
• You want the lowest total price for an EGO two-stage.
• You want EGO's drift cutters: the ADC2400 is listed for the SNT2400 and SNT2405.

Choose the SNT2410 XP if:

• You already own two EGO 10.0Ah or larger batteries from a mower or other tools.
• You clear a long driveway or several driveways and want the longer rated runtime.
• Turning a 24-inch two-stage at the end of each pass tires you out; trigger steering helps.
• You clear in bitter cold and want heated grips.

A self-propelled two-stage drives both wheels together, which makes it track straight but resist turning. At the end of every pass you have to wrestle the machine around. Trigger-controlled steering assists the turn: squeeze the trigger on the side you want to turn toward and the machine pivots with much less effort. EGO puts it on the SNT2410 and on the 28-inch SNT2807.

How much it matters depends on the job. A 22 by 30-foot two-car driveway takes about 13 passes with a 24-inch machine, so 13 turns. A 3-car, 32 by 30-foot driveway takes about 19. If you are strong and your driveway is short, you may barely notice. If you are older, lighter or clear a lot of turns, it is the most useful feature the XP adds.

It is the third 24-inch EGO two-stage and, for existing EGO owners, often the smarter buy. The tool-only SNT2420 lists at $1,199.00 with 14-inch airless snow tires, an IPX4 rating, a 200-degree joystick chute and a 5-year tool warranty, rated for 18 cars per charge on two 7.5Ah batteries. It does not list trigger steering or heated grips. If you have the batteries and a flat driveway, it undercuts the SNT2410 with the most useful features intact.

For bigger jobs, the 28-inch SNT2807 kit adds a 21-inch intake, a 60-foot throw and two 12.0Ah batteries rated for 32 cars. The full range is in best EGO snow blowers.

EGO says both machines are compatible with all EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries, and its Peak Power technology combines two packs. Smaller packs will run the SNT2410; they will simply deliver less runtime than the 24-car rating, which assumes two 10.0Ah batteries. Two 7.5Ah packs should land close to the SNT2405's 18-car figure, since the machines share the same clearing hardware. If you are buying packs specifically, compare the price of EGO 10.0Ah batteries and a charger against simply buying the SNT2405 kit.
