EGO LM2135SP Review: 21 in Select Cut Self-Propelled Mower

The LM2135SP is best at giving a small to mid-size lawn a clean, customizable cut with battery convenience.

• Blade choice. Select Cut lets you swap lower blades: high-lift bagging for pickup, mulching for fine clippings, or extended-runtime when range matters more.
• Easy self-propel. Touch Drive responds to palm pressure, and a fingertip dial sets speed from 0.9 to 3.1 mph, slow enough for trimming and fast enough for open lawn.
• Quick turnaround. The 7.5Ah battery recharges in about 60 minutes on the included rapid charger.
• Platform value. The battery runs every EGO 56V tool, such as the EGO Power+ ST1623T 16 in. String Trimmer Kit with 4.0Ah Battery string trimmer.
• Low upkeep. A brushless motor with no oil, spark plug or fuel, plus LED headlights for dawn and dusk.

A 21 inch deck at a 3 mph walking pace covers about 0.43 acre per hour, so a quarter acre takes about 35 minutes.

The biggest drawback is that the 60 minute runtime is a best case. It assumes favorable conditions, and in practice bagging with the high-lift blade, thick or wet grass, and fast self-propel speeds all shorten it. At a 3 mph pace, 60 minutes is about 0.43 acre of mowing in ideal conditions, so a half-acre lawn usually needs a second battery or a recharge break.
